Columbia County Convention and Visitors Bureau

Securing National Travel Writers to Visit Columbia County During Masters Tournament

The Project

The Columbia County Convention and Visitors Bureau promotes visitor and business travel in Columbia County, Georgia. Named one of the healthiest places to live in the state, Columbia County is known for its abundance of natural resources and endless recreational opportunities. Recognized nationally as one of the top places to kayak in the state, the county is known for its paddling, hiking, climbing and mountain biking opportunities. It also has some of the most diverse and delicious food in the region, as well as a variety of unique historic attractions.

Neighboring Augusta, Columbia County sees an increase in visitors in the springtime, when the highly prestigious Masters Tournament takes place at Augusta National Golf Club. One of the four major championships in professional golf, it takes place every April in the region. In 2019, this yearly opportunity inspired Columbia County to partner with Inspire to invite travel writers to the area with the goal of raising awareness about regional attractions, using The Masters as a hook.
