Announcing a $13 Million Hotel Renovation and Grand Opening

The Project

Cherry Valley Hotel & Ohio Event Center recently underwent a $13 million renovation, transforming the beloved property from an outdated indoor waterpark to a rustic chic boutique hotel. The hotel and event center in Newark now features one of the largest event spaces in central Ohio, updated guest rooms, a new taphouse serving locally sourced craft beers, a spa, on-site restaurants utilizing local ingredients and fresh takes on classic cocktails, a lobby bar, a variety of meeting spaces and a coffee shop. The hotel also sits on 16 acres and is the only hotel in the United States to have its own arboretum.

Inspire worked with Cherry Valley Hotel & Ohio Event Center to create a comprehensive media relations and influencer engagement strategy that raised awareness about the hotel and event center. Inspire hosted writers for sneak previews of the construction, welcomed stakeholders for the official grand opening, coordinated special media dinners to sample the unique cuisine the on-site restaurants offered and hosted writers for overnight familiarization visits to further explore the property.

  • Press coverage shared during the grand opening was pivotal in providing Cherry Valley with a public platform to announce they were officially open for business. Some of the outlets that covered the grand opening included the Columbus Dispatch, Columbus Monthly, WHIZ NBC Zanesville, Good Day Columbus and Spectrum News.
  • Key stakeholders in the community recognized the opening of the hotel, resulting in more than 20 proclamations from local and state dignitaries.
  • Ongoing media outreach has been critical to the continued success of the hotel.
