Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools

Launching a COVID-19 Microsite to Share Timely Information

The Project

As the agency of record for Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools (GJPS), Inspire supports the district with integrated communication needs, including strategic counsel and editorial planning, video creation, social media strategy, message development and crisis response.

During the pandemic, the district needed a more intentional communications strategy around COVID-19 updates, including a more user-friendly experience for families to find the information they need. Inspire created a microsite to share the most relevant and up-to-date information related to learning models, COVID-19 district data and other relevant resources. In addition, Inspire worked with district leadership on communication to families and video content for social media to ensure the school community felt well-supported with transparent updates.

The Results

  • Inspire worked with district leadership and our web development partner to create a COVID-19 microsite as a one-stop shop for district information related to the pandemic. The work included a comprehensive audit of the district’s previous COVID-19 pages, the development of recommendations and a site map, content organization and creation, and web design.
  • Following the site launch, Inspire worked with the district to communicate the new resource to families, including drafting language for the district and its stakeholders to share and working with the team on developing blog content and social media posts.
  • Monthly videos Inspire develops for GJPS’s social media and newsletter have helped enhance storytelling for the district and increased engagement with the school community. During the pandemic, Inspire developed videos related to health and safety efforts and the increased focus on mental health services. The videos were viewed more than 1,400 times between Facebook and YouTube.
  • Inspire provided ongoing strategic counsel to district leadership throughout the pandemic to support communication efforts with the school community, transitions in learning models, engagement with the COVID-19 Task Force, and provided communications tools and guidance on returning to in-person learning, vaccines for teachers, public health recommendations and heath and safety protocols.
