Produce for Kids

Promoting Healthy Eating Habits Through National Blogger Campaign

The Project

Inspire reached out to 13 national food bloggers and contracted with them on behalf of Produce for Kids to help promote the Power Your Lunchbox Promise campaign and to help use their social influence and blogs to help increase pledges. Power Your Lunchbox Promise was sponsored by produce companies including Avocados from Mexico, Bee Sweet Citrus, Crispy Green, Eat Smart, Earthbound Farm, NatureFresh, Pero Family Farms, Sun World, Vegy Vida and Zespri. Produce for Kids also partnered with Eric Carle and his collection of children’s books for the campaign.

Each of the bloggers developed a recipe that included fruit and vegetable products produced by the sponsors and included graphics designed by Produce for Kids that included sponsor logos and Eric Carle branding. Bloggers also integrated information about Power Your Lunchbox into their recipe posts, including a link to take the pledge, and shared their recipes on social media, tagging Produce for Kids and using #PowerYourLunchbox. Throughout the campaign, the bloggers continued to share updates on social media with links to take the pledge.

The Results

  • The food bloggers shared 13 blog posts with a combined 2.21 million estimated readers, which received 25,600 views and were shared on social media 8,220 times.
  • During 2017, more than 48,000 families and classrooms made the promise to eat a healthier lunch.
  • After the 2017 Power Your Lunchbox Promise campaign, Produce for Kids had donated nearly 1 million meals to those in need through campaigns benefitting Feeding America.
