American Egg Board

Creating Classroom Materials and Videos to Educate the Next Generation of Consumers

The Project

Today, many Americans are generations removed from the farm and are unfamiliar with where their eggs come from. Inspire worked with the American Egg Board to create Eggs 101 – a collection of short videos that showcases an egg’s journey from the hen house to the dinner plate – as an educational tool for students and their families.

The seven videos are geared toward students in the middle grades (4th-8th grades) and give an in-depth overview of an egg’s journey – from how hens are raised to the environmental management practices farmers use, and from egg nutrition and health to how eggs are processed and transported to the grocery store. The videos were developed in alignment with national learning standards in science and social studies to encourage teachers to use them in their classrooms.

To supplement the videos, an Eggs 101 Teacher’s Guide includes quizzes, lesson plans, and activities. All resources are available for free on the IncredibleEgg.org website.

The Results

  • Seven videos were produced averaging 1-3 minutes in length and promoted on IncredibleEgg.org.
  • The Eggs 101 videos and Teacher’s Guide were distributed to thousands of teachers across the country to be used in their classrooms.
  • In the first few months, the Eggs 101 videos landing page on the website received 8,871 page views, and the average time on the page was 4:49 minutes.
