Join Inspire in Supporting Organizations that Provide Shelter to Those In-Need
This holiday season – not everyone will celebrate from the comfort of a home. In Inspire's hometown of Columbus, Ohio, the number of people experiencing homelessness has increased by 24% and is projected to rise.
In honor of our clients, business partners and friends, Inspire this year will be making contributions to local and national nonprofits that support those who are unhoused with shelter and resources. If you’d like to join us in giving, below are links to organizations that help in Ohio and nationwide.
Central Ohio:
Faith Mission: Each year, Faith Mission provides more than 83,000 nights of shelter and nearly 200,000 meals across two campuses to men, women and veterans experiencing homelessness, making it a cornerstone for homeless shelter services in Columbus.
Community Shelter Board: Community Shelter Board leads a coordinated, community effort to make sure everyone has a place to call home. Its system of care served 15,000 people last year with homelessness prevention, shelter, street outreach, rapid re-housing and permanent supportive housing.
Huckleberry House: Since 1970, Huckleberry House has been a safe place and a source of support for young people. Huck House works to make sure every teen has a safe home environment.
Star House: Star House exists to come alongside teens and young adults as they exit homelessness and gain stability in a community of hope. Founded in 2006, Star House operates Central Ohio's only 24/7/365 drop-in center, where youth are provided immediate access to food, clothing, hygiene items, laundry facilities, showers, and a safe place to be.
National:
True Colors United: In 2008, Cyndi Lauper, Lisa Barbaris, Jonny Podell and Gregory Lewis founded True Colors United (formerly the True Colors Fund) and went on a different kind of tour – visiting homeless shelters, community centers, and other service providers to learn all they could about the issue. Today, True Colors United implements innovative solutions to youth homelessness that focus on the unique experiences of LGBTQ+ young people.
Covenant House: Covenant House is the largest, primarily privately funded charity in North and Central America providing immediate and long-term support for young people facing homelessness and survivors of trafficking.
National Coalition for the Homeless: Envisioning a world where everyone has a safe, decent, affordable and accessible home, NCH's mission is to prevent and end homelessness while ensuring the immediate needs of those experiencing homelessness are met and their civil rights protected.
Family Promise: A national nonprofit committed to preventing and ending the crisis of family homelessness, Family Promise delivers innovative solutions, including prevention, shelter and stabilization services. It has served more than 1 million family members since its founding more than 30 years ago.
